World Gone Wrong, Hillary Clinton Is On the Senate

Overall Album Score: 8.1 out of 10

First of all, I'm going to tell you that it was very very boring for me writing those track reviews. Every song on here sounds the same, and I was basically forced to say that "this is a sort of boring but engaging acoustic folk song" each time in the most diverse ways I could possibly think of without spending half of a lifetime thinking about it. This album is so danged CONISTENT that it was just one of those albums that's not very much fun to review. And since I'm probably one of the most lazy music reviewers out there, I didn't bother to sit through the songs and try to come up with some sort of inner meaning ... Well, at least I didn't feel any dire need of doing that with World Gone Wrong. If you think I should have, then you can kiss my huge, pulsating buttocks. (Really, it pulsates ... I'll take a digital picture of it for you if you want.)

"CONSISTENT" isn't usually a bad thing, of course, but this is "consistently acoustic," and those usually bore me by virtue of its nature. Nevertheless, if you're someone who enjoys songs that are acoustic no matter the reason (even though I suspect that it's because you're a sicko and probably voted for Bill Clinton instead of Bob Dole) then World Gone Wrong by former folk-guru is just the album for you.

Because you hippie weirdoes who actually like folk music would probably be utterly ecstatic to know that this is a straight-up sequel to Good As I've Been To You. Yup, he doesn't write any of these songs. The only major difference between this and the last album is that Bobby chooses slightly more somber songs to cover. That's it. ... It's all still quite boring! ... but engaging. Really, I didn't hate this album at all. It might seem like I did, but really I didn't. Any one of you out there thinking otherwise are just WROOOOOOONG!

Overall Album Score: 8.1 out of 10 (It managed to get the same score as Good As I've Been To You! ... That's appropriate enough, I guess. Both of those albums have pretty good folk songs on it, but neither are particularly memorable.)

Average Song Score: 8.2 (The songs are solid as you might expect from Dylan's return to folk music. ... But folk music is boooooooringgggggo! And it doesn't even hope to pack the same punch as his old masterpieces like The Freewheelin' did. For fans only.)

Album Tilt: 8.0 (The songs are all deep and engaging if you're willing ... but they're also overbearing and not easy to get into.)

Artist Rating: 8.0 (These are covers, but that doesn't detract from the fine way Dylan presents these.)

Track Reviews

World Gone Wrong 9/10

The totally non-80s-ness of "World Gone Wrong," is enough to make me SHOUT TO THE HEAVENS WITH GLEE!!!!!! The mere acoustic guitar as an instrument is just like the Dylan man used to do back in the day. Plus, he chose a really good song to cover. It's thoughtful and ... just a high quality song. My thumb's up.

Love Henry 8/10

As I've said probably 8 billion times by now, the bad thing about straight folk music is that if the song isn't extraordinary, then it's difficult for me to enjoy it. Besides that, the melody is monotonous. Dylan does a good job with the song, to be sure, but this is hardly "Mr. Tambourine Man."

Ragged & Dirty 7.5/10

Bob Dylan sings another folk song. Ho hum, ho hum.

Blood in My Eyes 8/10

Better than "Ragged & Dirty" slightly, but it's still a slow plodding, kind of boring. Yet, it's an engaging folk ditty. It's like every other bloody song on the album! Imagine THAT!

Broke Down Engine 8.5/10

I think this song is supposed to be exciting ... but it's still acoustic-guitar folk stuff! ...... Well, it's clearly more dynamic than most of the other songs that precede it. ... But as far as it's "excitement" goes, I'm not phenomenally excited about it. I find it enjoyable, though, I suppose.

Delia 8/10

Awwwwwww! This song is so sad! I think I'm going to cry! ... Another engaging, but kind of boring, acoustic folk song. And it's really sad. I'm crying right now. Honestly.

Stack A Lee 7.5/10

Of course, the song is a strong one. It's performed well by Dylan, but ........ SCREW ALL THIS ACOUSTIC CRAP! I WANT SOME REAL ROCK AND ROLL, MANNNNN!

Two Soldiers 8/10

A verrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry long folk song and it's not bad at all, but, but, but ... Dagnabit! It's FREAKING acoustic! Quit it!!!

Jack-A-Roe 9/10

Nice! Finally, there's an acoustic song in this ACOUSTIC album that's really good! ... This one isn't boring at all. The melody is good, the acoustic guitar playing is better, and ... yep. It's guud.

Lone Pilgrim 8/10

Lone Pilgrim = strong song, but still a tad bit boring. Oh well. Goodbye.

Speak the world wrong about this craaaaaaazy album here!
