Gotcha! By Details!
Overall Album Score: 8.6 out of 10 So, you want the details, huh? ... WELL, THIS ISN'T THE PLACE TO FIND THEM! WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE TO YOU, THE QUESTION AND ANSWER MAN OF ANY STUPID POP BAND THAT EVER ROLLED AROUND IN THIS WORLD???? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! SO YOU CAN JUST FORGET ABOUT IT! Or, I could just provide you with the details and stop this silly argument here and now. Frou Frou is a band with a dang silly name. It's even sillier than "Don Ignacio," dang it. I wanted the epitome of silly names, but this pack of retards from LONDON ENGLAND went and crapfully beat me to it. DANG IT! ... I'm going to change my name to "Sampson Yinx Doo Doo Toilet Cleaner." Hah! That's sillier than Frou Frou combined! I was wondering if it would be cool with you if I just repeated this band's name over and over again: Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou Frou ...Okay, I had my fun. Now, to this album ... review ...Electro-pop that's good! GOOOD ELECTROPOP! Really, this is good electronic pop. No KIDDIN""" Frou Frou, is a duo. One, is a really hot female called Imogen Heap, who is probably too classy to even go out with me (well, there's a lot of women in that category ... probably 99 percent of the female world population) and then there's a dude musician called Guy Sigsworth. (No! This isn't the Eurythmics in disguise! What are you talking about????) They write a lot of good songs on here! Their music isn't particularly deep, introspective, artistic, or great, but they know what *melody* means and why it's important for a song. Furthermore, all of these songs (while cold and emotionless most of the time) have a sort of hazy drugged-up atmosphere, which gives it a nice personality. Sure if this were "DANCABLE," then this would be a fun album. This album is not dancable, really. It's DRUGGED-UP and DREARY and kinda fun and interesting. They are unabashedly 00s and they are unapologetically going to write 00s pop songs ... but these are worthwhile, indeed. Even a band with a dang silly name as FROU FROU can make it in this crazy world. (Oh... and their stuff was meant to appeal to the mass public ... and, in my opinion, the mass public could do a lot worse!) It's gotten radio airplay, too, which is good by me. JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING GETS RADIO AIRPLAY, DOESN'T MEAN IT'S BAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Overall Album Score: 8.6 out of 10 (A good album!!!! This is good stuff for the 00s pop audience ... All moronic teenagers of the globe, take note! ... Oh, and while I have your attention ... would you freaks quit taking off your clothes??? You're going to have to raise a whole new generation pretty soon.) Average Song Score: 8.8 (A surprisingly good set of tunes! This album has more than its fair share of catchy melodies and songs with immaculate pop-production.) Album Tilt: 8.5 (It's lacking in the diversity department, but that doesn't matter so much when the material is so strong.) Artist Rating: 8.5 (Again, it's lacking in the diversity department. Imogen Heap's voice, while nice, isn't strong enough to warrant a higher score here ... she doesn't pierce through to your souuullll or anything magical like that. But I wasn't expecting her to, particularly.) Track Reviews Let Go 10/10 BEAUtiful! This is such an expertly trippy song ... it's both tuneful and sounds helplessly drug induced at the same time. And this is POP music! Freakin-A! This stuff is hardly original, but as far as I'm concern, this type of song is the best 00s has to offer. Breathe In 9.5/10 More of that druggy electro-pop goodness. ... I love the pop-groove (surprisingly) and those long-drawn-out are just trancing to listen to. Best of all, is the melody! Great melody!! I especially love the chorus. This is a very very well-written melody. I love listening to this... If you're a pop-culture-music nut and you don't own this album, then I don't know what's keeping you. It's Good to Be in Love 8/10 A lesser song because it has a lesser melody. Everything else is pretty good, though! It still has that druggy atmosphere. This one sounds more intense than the previous two songs, but it's not nearly as memorable. Must Be Dreaming 9/10 Wowwwwwww... Another good melody!!!! (When the chorus takes off ... ohhhh babyyyy...) The pristine, polished clean production (yet, still sounding drug-induced) makes this one smoooooooth sucker. I love it! Psychobabble 8.5/10 PSYCHOOOOOOOO ... Well, this song doesn't get that high of a score just because the melody isn't that good this time. HOWEVER, those drowning synths are so thick that I feel like I'm going to DROWWWNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!! ... That's a pretty interesting feeling for just listening to a song by a band with such a silly name. Only Got One 9/10 Much of this song is awesome. (I really like those light, pounding synths that you hear in the background sometimes!) Also, the melody to this one is very strong, again, and ... yeah! This is just GOOD POP. Such is a commodity! Shh 8/10 This has a pretty good melody, too, but it's not GREAAAAATTTTTT. I still enjoy this song, though! Again, it was produced well ........ but not THAT well. This one seems a little bit sloppier than the others. And long. Hear Me Out 9.5/10 This really is a good album ... I'm glad that I decided to review it. (I just thought the band name was funny ... I never thought that they would be so excellent!) This is another simply smashing drugged-up pop tune with summa that wonderful, polished up song production and another fine, fine melody! Yayyyy!!! ... This is even one of the best songs on the album! ... These guys are spreading all their best songs out equally in the album! What class!!! Maddening Shroud 8/10 Weaker ... but it's still a pretty good song. ... You know how that goes! The melody sure repeats itself so much. The production of this song was nice, again. Hooray! Flicks 8/10 This is a good song ... again! I like the melody, the druggy atmosphere, and the polished pop atmosphere. This isn't one of the album's best songs, but ... so what? The Dumbing Down of Love 9/10 This is a pretty good song even though it is slooooowwwwwwww and not exciting at all. Imogen Heap tries to give a heart-wrenching vocal performance, but she doesn't exactly have the voice for that! ... I like this song, though, just because it sounds ... I don't know ... kind of epic. A nice way to close the album! L'orange et une rouge aqui! |
