...Okay ... Maybe I'm ready to start updating again! ... A personal update: I left the movie theater! (Yay!!) I also started doing production stuff for the university newspaper, which doesn't exactly give me loads of free time. Even now, I'm supposed to be doing my physics homework and stuff. ... I probably should be getting to that ...

And ... Yes! I did write about three music reviews in the past two days, so I think we'll start seeing some regular updates again! Yayyyy!!! Okay. See ya!

--January 14, 2005

Hello! I did start off my winter break with all the enthusiasm I ever needed to get the ball rolling on this web site again, but as you can see, the ball stopped rolling!

I am officially bringing this site into hiatus as I continue to work harder on my novel, which probably should have been finished by now considering how long I have been (sort of) working on it! I am slowly uploading the chapters on ABCtales.com. You can check on it here if you're interested. I have the first two chapters on there at the moment. I am currently finishing up Chapter 7 (...there will be about 40 chapters overall, so ... I have a long ways left.)

So, I'm sorry about this. I don't know how many people look forward to reading updates on here, but ... alas, I have other fish to fry. Oh ... and that's not to mention school. I have that starting up again pretty soon.

A bit of a personal update, I am getting rid of my job at the movie theater, most likely. I'll probably turn in my two weeks fairly soon.

HELLOOOO!!!!!! Another update already, you ask? But of course!! I have nothing better to do! (Hooray!)

Nothing much happened since yesterday. ... I've pretty much been here all day.

Update again soon, probably. I still have lots to upload. ... Maybe I'll update 12 reviews next time to get the 400.

A HuuuUuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuUUUUUUUUUUge update today!!! ... Oh man, there were so many reviews just piling up on my desktop ....... I really don't know why I'm always so hesitant about uploading them. Anyway, there will probably be another huuuuuuUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuUUUUUUUge update in a few short days.

Everything's going alright. They're getting really anal at the theater as we're getting near the 'oliday season. ... I'm sure scheduled to work A LOT in the period between Christmas and New Year's. Innnnnnnsannnnnneeeeeeee.

Anyway, I've been writing these reviews like a machine lately, and I won't stop now! *chuggachuggachuggachugga*

Oh, and I got all my grades turned in! Very surprisingly 3 A's and 1 B. Surely, I didn't actually deserve any of those A's, but they're completely awesome just the same! Until ... a few days ...

AND I NEED TO START DOING MOVIE IGNACIO!!! IT'S GOING TO GO UP DURING THE BREAK, DANG IT!!!! ... WORK!! I MUST DO MORE WOOOOOOORKKKKKKKK!!!

CLASSES ARE OVERRRRRRRR!!!! I had some good news, too! I'm probably not going to get a C in that oddly useless visual communications course. I sort of just decided not to study for it, and I got a B on it! ... I took it yesterday, and the grade was posted on by that evening! I'm so bloody happy! ... And the professor guy said he liked my project paper ... although, I'm not sure if he really meant to be referring to somebody else, 'cause I didn't spend that much time working on it! ... Anyway, it's all over now. I have two A's so far. I didn't expect either of them to be A's! My other two classes, I'm still waiting for the grades to be posted. I expect they will be B's unless the professors engage in some serious grade-curving! ... I certainly keep you posted about that ...... as if you CARED.

And now Winter Break. I hope I won't waste it with computer games and severe idleness! ... I'm going to watch a lot of movies, though. ... Satisfy more of my inner (and outer) nerdiness by watching more rented Star Trek television episodes. Oh! And I also hope to re-start Movie Ignacio! That would be a good thing to do during the break ... yup.

HELLO, PEOPLE. HOW ARE YOU TODAY? I'M DOING SWIMMINGLY. I SAW JERRY SEINFELD LAST NIGHT ... I HAD AN ABSOLUTELY SPLENDID SEAT!!!!! I COULD TOTALLY EVEN MAKE OUT THE DETAILS OF HIS FACE!!! HE WASN'T AN ANT, OR A BLURRY FIGURE, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT!!!!! HE WAS REAL!!!!!!!!!!! REAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!

I'll probably write a review of that thing and post it on here ... even though it wasn't a *music* concert. ... I listened to music in my car on the way there and back, though. And that music was good. WOOWOOWOWOOWOOOOWOOWOWOO!

I took two of my finals. I still have two projects left (one of them I haven't started on) and another final next Thursday! I sort of need to be working on these projects ... sometime ... I think the fact that I'm writing this might indicate that I'm doing something wrong. Hmmmmmm... hmmmmm... Eh, since when did I ever care about education related things? ... YEAH! I had quite a day! ... Whaooooohohhh ... And I'm not even done with my geology stuff due tomorrow! ... I don't care, though. It's extra credit. And I might still have time to do it tomorrow morning depending on if I go to sleep tonight. Nevertheless, I had quite a day. The articles I was working on took waaaaaaay longer to complete than I had anticipated, and I hadn't even started on one of them. The good news is my friend had a (free) ticket to see Rudy Giuliani who was giving a speech at the convention center downtown. I took notes, and BAM! There's another article. So, all I have to do is make the interviews for ONE article sometime next week that I'm anticipating will be relatively easy to do ... just because it's more straightforward.

Furthermore, at the convention center, they were advertising a date (next Thursday) when Jerry Seinfeld will be in town. Luckily, my dad's a big fan, too, so he paid for them! (Hahhahhhhh!) So ... everything (besides my geology extra credit) is peachy! ... Oh yeah, I have some more geology due Monday. And I still have to study for a grand total of TWO tests taking place in less than a week ...... and that visual communications project I haven't even started on. ........... Not to mention my beat reporting final project (which I *have* started on, but only barely). So, I still have rocky waters ahead of me.

HMmhmmhmmmmmm... The good news is neither of these tests will be harder than the midterms. Geology, we only have about half of what was on the midterm (and the material is easier to understand) ... and communication law was always easy ... as long as I actually study for it. Which I will. I swear. The beat reporting final project I don't think will be difficult. The visual communication project is a total joke, so I'm not worried much about that. ... I can't wait to see Jerry Seinfeld...

.... Heck I'll probably even update again in a few days. (Noting that those might be famous last words.)

Whoops! When I reformated my computer, I must have forgotten to save my review of Duran Duran's Astronaut. Oh well, I don't mind. That was kind of a fun album anyway!

I figured out what I'm going to do, homework-wise. Monday, I'm going to do my Beat Reporting project. Tuesday, I'm going to do my geology lab. Wednesday, I'm going to EAT SIGNIFICANTLY into my Visual Communications project. That means I don't have to do anything on Thursday, Friday, or the weekend! (Except work!) ... Yeah. And I'm really going to do it. And everything will be dandy. (I think I can genuinely pull it off, too, and it's not a joke ... just as long as I have a plan, I can bally do any bally thing that I bally want to bally do.)

Wow! I'm updating frequently now! ... Yes, you can e-mail me and tell me how awesome I've been lately if you want to. I am awesome. I know it.

Oh! And Movie Ignacio is still in the works. I haven't forgotten about it! I still need to rewrite a whole BUNCH of reviews from the original site, and I'm watching and reviewing new movies all the time. As a bonus, I'll also eventually have reviewed EVERY SINGLE EPISODE from the original Star Trek series. I reviewed the first two episodes just today ... and I'm getting more from Netflix. ... Previous to this, I had only seen about three episodes of the series (but all the movies). I had always been aware, though, that I am a Trekkie at heart. I'm just finally realizing my destiny. Will there be another update tomorrow? ... Perhaps.

Happpppy Thanksgiving!!!

Next week is decidedly my "Week of Doing All Schoolwork." So, I'm getting all my music reviewing out of the way! I guess! (Actually, I've only just restarted my music reviewing ... it's typical that it happens when I shouldn't let it.) Anyway, I'm going to keep reviewing until this Thanksgiving Break is over! ... I also have to go to work, which stinks, but oh well. (People! Find something better to do during your holiday break! Stay away from the moooovies!!!)

Well, fortunately, both big hollywood blockbuster movies are critical flops (Christmas With the Kranks got worse reviews than Surviving Christmas with Ben Affleck and Alexander is reputedy a giant BOMB of an epic.) I worked yesterday, and neither of those films sold out, fortunately. The only one that did sell out (National Treasure) started last week. ... So I'm happy that Hollywood was too stupid to make these movies any good. ...... Well, I do feel badly about it overall. I was kind of looking forward to both those films being good! ... And I got my Christmas schedule! I'm working neither Christmas Eve NOR Christmas! Yaaaaayyy!!! I'm working the day after Christmas, though. I feel so happy now!

Well, I'm going to work in an hour and a half. I'm going to try to finish up that Psycho Circus review and get started on Cream's Fresh Cream. Farewell, peepleeeees.

Well, look! It's October 25, 2004! It's the date of my sedimentology midterm! ... and, yes, that class is just about as bad as it sounds (i.e. this is really hard, and I think it might be a smarter idea to drop my major than to finish this class). Nevertheless, even though I will never be able to ace a geology exam ever in my journey through a college education, I'm still actually interested in that accursed subject. (I don't know what it is with these geology professors. They give us these tests that are essentially impossible to ace ... I get C's and D's on most of them, and end up getting B's in all their classes. To make it worse, I believe most of them are former hippies.)

Anyway, I got that over with and now I can concentrate on what really matters: reviewing albums. Yep. And I updated the site today! And everyone in the world rejoices! ... Because everybody in the world checks on this site everyday! ...... There must not be very many people in the world, then ........ I really should go outside more often.

I am very proud of myself. A few days ago, my computer started making a funny buzzing sound. I had no idea what it could be (even though I suspected that it was the fan). My dad thought it might be my hard drive, but I only had this sucker for three years, and it's a bit too early for such a fundamental component to break down. I took the computer apart and started cleaning out the dust (and I sneezed a few times). I got to the microprocessor fan and spun it. It was sort of making a buzzing noise. So, I hauled on off to CompUSA and bought a replacement. I brought it back home and installed it MYSELF, and that fixed the problem! Not only that, but I didn't do something weird to my computer and made it explode or catch on fire or anything! I am now, officially, a computer nerd. Thank you, thank you!

More importantly ... I'm baaaaaaack! After spending more than a month without having any real updates, I just posted a couple of album reviews today for once.

Everything seems to be going fine. Work at the theater is beginning to suck (after being reprimanded by an irate manager for neglecting to throw someone out of an R-rated movie who "forgot her ID"). School is going fine as well, even though some of the tests haven't been going too well (despite the fact that I scored above the class average every time) ... hmhmmhmhmhmmmm. I seem to be happy, and that's a good thing.

The book, I'm afraid, has been dormant. I can't seem to get excited for more than a period of 7 days about that stupid thing.

There will be another update in a few days. I'm not planning on hiding for another month. Don Ignacio is BACK and ready to be COOL again! Hurrah! Oh, and to all of you who sent comments in the past month or two, I would like to say thank you, and they should be posted in the next few days.

--October 3, 2004

I am very sorry that I disappeared from this website and not really told you what I was doing. To tell you the truth, it all came rather unexpected. At first I was just procrastinating. As it waned on, my interests have shifted (temporarily, I'm sure) to other things. About two weeks ago, I started working on my novel again. (And my novel has about 100 times the priority over this website whenever I get the inspiration to work on it.) At any rate, I could use a prolonged break from this. I'm spending it wisely, I think! (Oh, and that's not to mention school! OOooh ... midterms are coming up, aren't they!)

I am still listening to music all the time, though. Now that I have much-appreciated money coming in from a job, I am able once again to buy an album every once in awhile and listen to it intimately. Recently, I bought albums that are utterly excellent, and one of them (The Soft Bulletin by the Flaming Lips) I believe I've been listening to once a day since I got it two weeks ago. Other albums in my pillage: Lifes Rich Pageant by R.E.M. (one of the highest scored albums on the site), Renaissance by Renaissance, Illusion by Renaissance, and Smile by Brian Wilson. I really enjoy all of these albums! I also have Prologue by Renaissance on order. (I listened to that album before, and I already know that it's practically perfect.) That Flaming Lips album, though ... it's got good melody, better arrangments, and it's a concept album ... and it's sci-fi! You can't get better than that!

Also, I'm listening to a bunch of random stuff on Rhapsody. So, I'm using this time to expand my musical horizons! Whhaaaaaaaaah!

My efforts to rewrite my movie reviews and eventually transfer them onto here have been going slowly, but it's been happening. I'm also writing new ones as I see them ... which isn't that often, but it occurs!

Hopefully, I'll update every once in awhile. I did write a review yesterday about Brian Eno's Here Come the Warm Jets. It takes so much time to update! ... I don't think that anyone's actually disappointed about this, but if there is, remember that this isn't goodbye.

--September 12, 2004

First of all, I want to apologize that I never uploaded all the lovely reader comments that I've been sent lately! ... But I have an excuse, I promise! For the past three weeks, I had this bizarre virus on my computer that would redirect to some website whenever I tried checking my e-mail. There were a few other websites that would trigger this redirection, but if I ever wanted to check my e-mail, I'd have to incessantly click on the stop button to keep it from loading onto this website ... and I'd have to click on new pages in my e-mail several times, so this, to say the least, was annoying! ... Anyway, I finally put my tail between my legs and updated this McAfee virus program for a year, and it's scanning for viruses right now. (It had better get rid of it! I shelled out 42 bucks for it, which I'm too depressed to think about how many hours I had to work to earn that much.) Anyway, I hope that barrier would be gone soon!

Also, I have a new goal. I'm going to load ONE new review a day. That's an update everyday. It's a small, easily attainable goal. Doing five of them is a rather large task. One review allows me to more thorougly read over that review and it doesn't take so long. Lately, I haven't been very good at writing new reviews, either. I have a fun little test to take on Tuesday in media law (and I'm not too worried about it). Also, I have an easy assignment due tomorrow at noon, I have to cover an event for the school newspaper (the 25-anniversary university faculty), and Tuesday afternoon, I have to travel to the Kansas State Fair to write an article of some sort for my beat reporting class. (I don't even know what I'm going to do. I'm just going to show up and hope that something presents itself.) I'll probably be there until the evening. So, I don't think that I'll be reviewing anything new until Wednesday at the earliest! I just don't have the time! Hopefully, there will still be an update. Hopefully, hopefully, I will be able to post those reader comments, too.

Cheers!

Hello, all you people! ...... I updated my site with ONE review on it! Frankly, I temporarily lost interest in the site, but I'm back now. I had a strange flirtation with songwriting recently. On the 5th, I think, I got on a composing program and just decided to write some songs. I really like how at least one of them turned out. But I'm over with that! Back to reviewing! I'd much rather put down people who try to write songs but can't instead of actually trying it myself.

Sorry about only having one new review up. I was going to do the more normal 5, but ... I got tired. And I knew I needed to update today! Also, I got quite a few reader comments recently. Those will be posted up tomorrow, I hope.

Dudes! I totally went to a Bob Dylan concert and never mentioned it in here! ... I don't know how many people actually read these site-update entries, but ... I should have at least mentioned it! Anyway, that was a really super concert! ... Dylan was so great, even though he didn't play his songs much like they sounded on the albums. (Frankly, I didn't recognize probably about 2/3's of them because they sounded different.) He changed the songs to make them REALLY ROCK. That really made the concert fun for me! ... Oh, and Willie Nelson was there, too. He was as good as he probably could be, but I'm hardly a fan, so I wasn't too excited. ... Anyway, you can read more about it on the review!

School is going okay. I don't have any tests yet ... I did have to write a paper, but that was easy. Work is going alright, too. I saw another free movie on Thursday ... The Village. It was pretty okay, even though I thought the twist was really simple! It was so simple that I even thought about it before it was revealed. More awesome than the movie, though, was that I was the only person in the theater ... and I was there for free! Heehee!

Uhh... Other than that, there's not much going on. George Starostin just closed down his website, which really stinks for me! ... I used to read his site EVERY DAY. Now I'm going to have to do something else with all this time I have ... besides going to school and work. ... I guess I could actually go through and edit some of my reviews. (I did recently change a few of the Bowie reviews slightly ... they were a bit more obnoxious than usual.)

Oh, and seriously read that thing I have linked on the front page labeled "Important." I'm going to take that off the front page like that by the next time I update (and link it to the "about the author" page), but certain commenters seemed to think that I was a great music authority or someone who is under the dellusionment that I am a great music authority. I am neither! I'm just a music fan writing about music. That paper basically tells you how new I am to music and also why I write.

Okay, until next time!

I had the funniest site comment sent to me a few days ago about Michael Bolton. "He sucks so bad...I don't think even if he changed his name to Michael McSucky Von Suckovich he could even suck more." ... Oh man, I must be insane, but that really cracks me up! (It reminds me of a line in Blackadder, a television series that I love -- "Madder than Mad Jack McMad, winner of last year's Mr. Madman competition.")

Anyway, I'm a dork! ... Also, if you care to search around the site a little bit, you'll notice a plethora of site comments by Simon B. ... He sends me all sorts of stuff with his own track scores! ... You'll find him mostly in Genesis, Elton John, The Beatles, Queen ... and maybe a few other places as well.

I also got another intellectual-flame letter from some guy in The Byrds' Mr. Tambourine Man page. I was thinking about actually reviewing some older guys, if I could possibly get away with just doing greatest hits albums (mostly because he called me a "narrow-minded bigot" ... which I assume meant a "narrow-minded bigot of the arts." ... that did hurt my feelings for a little while, and conforming to his requests isn't going to fix that). Anyway, I've forgotten about it. I still think there's little point in me reviewing the oldies ... I never much enjoyed those old songs the Rolling Stones and the Kinks used to cover ... Well, I mean there are a lot of the old songs that I like (you know, the famous ones like "Johnny B. Goode," "Not Fade Away," "Jailhouse Rock" ...), but ... I don't know. On second thought, maybe I will review a few compilation discs from those guys (like what George Starostin did on his website), but this won't happen anytime soon if ever. I'm very much a post-Sgt. Pepper follower.

Oh! And here's a piece of news that I can certainly make sound significant! I am no longer an amateur reviewer ... the overview of my Scissor Sisters review and Together We're Heavy by the Polyphonic Spree appeared in my university newspaper (...and I get paid a little bit for them...). ... I wish I would have been able to touch them up a little, though. My overviews don't always make sense without having a chance to scan the track reviews... and there was a glaring inacurracy in the Polyphonic Spree review, but ... Anyway, that was neat.

Lastly, I'm also very excited that Rhapsody added a bunch of Brian Eno albums and pretty much all the They Might Be Giants albums on their service now. I started listening to No Pussyfooting right away when finding that out. Unfortunately, there's going to be a few gaps in both of these artists! (I haven't officially started They Might Be Giants, yet ... I've started too many new bands recently to start with them as well.) And the Pixies are awesome! I hadn't heard them before!

Go waltz on over to the review of the Byrds' Mr. Tambourine Man if you feel like it, where I had an interesting argument with somebody. It started out debating whose version of "Mr. Tambourine Man" was the best (I still think that Bob Dylan had the best one, but ... I'm a minority on that, I guess) and then it escalated into a rousing debate about why I don't want to review early rock albums (Chuck Berry and the like). ... Well, I guess the debate was kind of stupid, but many paragraphs were written ... and I was late for Media Law class because I was too busy writing arguments that I lost track of time! ... Hmmmm!

Well, I'm going to get on with some more album reviewing, hopefully with gusto. I'm more than ready to get on with The Kinks' A Soap Opera, The Who's Live at Leeds, Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind, and Queen's A Day at the Races. They'll pretty much all be getting positive reviews (some more positive than others).

Oh yeah ... I've also decided *not* to revamp the journal page! ... It shouldn't be made too easy to navigate!
