I promise. No time for updates today!

(Oh crap, this is the busiest week I've had in a long time, and I'm writing reviews for my site. Ooooooh woe!)

Alright ... it's going to be okay, though. There's only two more days left to go, and I'm prepared for everything I've got to do tomorrow. (None of this last minute crap!) However, tomorrow afternoon, I've simply GOT to get cracking with my geology mineral cards! I have to memorize them by Friday ... not to mention studying for that calc quiz! (Oh! It's official: I'm in the class now!)

While I was writing that Literature review that was due today in Research, I was listening to my playlist consisting of five albums, and I feel I'm ready to review all of them, except for the Kiss one. So, this weekend will probably see some major Moody Blues, Meat Loaf, and Barry White action! (I wrote the Roxy Music review already.) Who knows? I might even get to Kiss! (Oh! I'm just looking forward to this stupid week being over! I've had enough of it! Stupid, stupid week!)

Hooooooo hah!

Um ... I'm really tired, but ... I suppose I'll write something today.

I got out of doing my speech today. I thought that I would have liked to reorganized the sucker! And now I get the chance! Unfortunately, I might not have a buttload of time to do it in. I still have to do a literature review for the research class, which is due tomorrow at 4 o'clock! (And then I have an SGA meeting to cover.) But, after that, I ... um ... Eh! I think I'll be okay! It'll probably only take me 2 hours to write that review if I'm focused enough. And, at the last minute, I'm as focused as I'll ever be. I'm also going to have to finish the index cards that have minerals listed on them fairly soon. Thursday night! I have a quiz on it Friday (gasp!)

Overall, I'm quite looking forward to this week being over. It's been too busy for me ... even though I'm updating the site. I swear I only wrote two reviews in the past two days! I just completed the Shins' Chutes Too Narrow and I also did Bob Dylan's John Welsey Harding ... which isn't uploaded yet for some reason. Er. Yeah. Soon, probably on Friday evening or on the weekend, I'll do Roxy Music's Siren, Meat Loaf's Dead Ringer (AKA Bat Out Of Hell clone supreme), and I decided to start doing some Moody Blues and Barry White (...arbitrarily...), so I'll get to both of their debuts hopefully soon.

Nobody ever dropped that Calc I class that I have been sitting in (yesterday was the last day to drop). Well, I had to visit with my old calc teacher and do a bunch of running around, but I think it's taken care of now, finally. I'll have to double check with the professor, though. Apparently, he's putting me in a 'special' class all by myself, but with that same teacher! How cool is that? There's always a way around the fire code.

Pat Benatar: Get Nervous (1982)

-----November 2, 2003

Okay ... I uploaded these yesterday, but I never got around to writing the journal entry for it! Oh well!

I've had a pretty good weekend. Last Friday was Halloween and I didn't have to answer doors. Instead, I went to a "game night" with Chi Alpha. It was fun. We played games that had nothing to do with alcohol. I remember going to a sort of party in high school where many classmates of mine who I had self-perceivedly believed to be "sound of mine" chuggin' them hard liquor substances down as if it were water. (One guy, if I remember correctly, chugged them down as if they were lighter fluid, but he was new at it I guess.) Me, I was outta there in 30 minutes flat. I did feel honored to have been invited, however, considering the majority of the people, I believe, thought of me either as an uncoruptable saint or a goody-goody grade-getter (both accusations, of which, would be incorrect)!

No. This wasn't one of these things. I think a few people had too much sugar, but there's nothing wrong with that! That's my music-reviewing tactic, afterall!

Then, last night (that would be Sat. Nov. 1st) I was invited to somebody's house, who lived somewhere out in the country. I got lost, of course. (For some reason that not even the governor of our fair state could answer, there are meaningless "Road Closed" signs all over the place in the somewhat-remote outskirts of Wichita.) Although, it was a beautiful house. It was really dark, so I couldn't see the yard, but it was pretty expanse with a pond, even. We played poker. Considering my somewhat apathetic attitude toward it, I did fairly well. We were playing the version of poker you would see at televised poker tournaments, where everybody has two cards down and there are five cards shown in the middle of the table. And, then, you would have to bet based on what you think you have in comparision with everyone else. I was wiped out on the most respectable hand ever. There were four diamonds on the table, and I had another diamond. Among the cards on the table, there was a King of diamonds and a Queen of diamonds. I had the Jack of diamonds. The only possible way someone could beat me is if, by any remote chance, they had an Ace of diamonds. I went all out ... and somebody had it! For some reason, another player also went all out with only a three of diamonds. So we both lost at the same time. But, in essence, I got third place out of nine. (I was being fairly cautious, though, compared with some of those rogues!) Anyway, it was after midnight at that point. I hung around for a little while, but the conversations going on were about serious topics involving people that I decided that I should not listen to, so I left.

I also did a little work for Roly Poly. (She didn't stand me up after all!) However, I'll only be working about 3 hours every Saturday, unfortunately, and then during the week if by any off chance she would need me. Oh well! It's better than nothing. I have four count 'em FOUR major trips that I have to get monetarily ready for! Yikes! The first is a conference in Dallas, TX from Jan. 2 - Jan. 5, which'll cost me $120. The second, one which I had been anticipating on this diary for some time, is the David Bowie concert. I already bought the ticket (barely ... I O.D.ed at the bank, those crooks), but I haven't yet raised money for the hotel fare, gasoline, food, misc tickets to things I'll visit while I'm there. I figure I'll need $400 at least for that! Eh ... I'll live on peanut butter and crackers. Then in March, Chi Alpha's going to Branson, MO. I have an immense fear of that place (it's country-western HELL), but I figure I'll go anyway. Whenever I hear the vile sounds of the slide guitar, I'll close my ears and scream the lyrics to "Yesterday." That'll be my new superstition! (Maybe I should review a country-western album for this site just for fun! Though, I'm very afraid that I might actually like it.) Lastly, and this is loooong off, but I'll have to raise money for the big, five-week geology trip to Colorado in late May - June. It's a required class for a geology major. I don't think I'll have to raise a motherlode of cash for that, though. It's a class, so I'd imagine that my parents would pay for that one.

For this site in specific, I am alternately listening to Bob Dylan's John Wesley Harding and The Shins' Chutes Too Narrow, (which I said I was going to review a LONG TIME AGO!) I'm being lazy, but I finished Blondie's Autoamerican, David Bowie's Let's Dance, and Kiss' Alive (a long time ago) ... my target date for uploading these are on Wednesday. I'm going to write it down on my forehead. There's no sense in me keeping these reviews to myself on my harddrive! I still have to upload all these minor-band reviews that I wrote a long time ago. That's coming. I think. I have a goal to get to 175 reviews by the end of this semester. 200 if possible. I'm at a mere 102 right now (plus the reviews already written). I don't seem to be making a whole lot of progress at the moment ... I keep on writing in this journal! That's the problem! I should be writing that Dylan review instead! Anyway, I can't write that review now, because I have a STUPID test tomorrow afternoon in that STUPID research class that I haven't studied for yet, and I also have a STUPID speech to write by Tuesday morning. The speech one is okay, though, because I've already done the research for it and (*gasp*) I'm actually doing it on something that I believe in. It's a sort of intricate plan for publishers to get their textbooks online, and if my 30-minute-thought-out plan is actually viable, the textbooks would be at least a third of the price and they would make the same amount of money. Yep ... it's wishful thinking from a college student, but it might actually work. Maybe I'll link the outline on here for your reading-pleasure, whenever I get that done!

For someone who has to RUSH to get this things done on time and in adequate quality, I spent way too long doing this journal. Oh well. I'm going to stop writing now. I really am. Now.

See? I told you I'd stop writing.

The Rolling Stones: Their Satanic Majesties Request (1967)
Roxy Music: Country Life (1974)

-----October 30, 2003

Today is the day that Don Ignacio reaches 100 reviews! Hooray! Remember that the next time you're playing Trivial Pursuit.

Was it really only four days before I updated my site last? I was pretty sure I updated it in the Pleistocene era, but I guess I was wrong. That test on Tuesday was a half-disaster. I answered all those questions "educatedly" while not always exactly sure what I was talking about. Most of the time I do this, however, my "educatedly" worded short essays turn out to be "on crackedly" worded essays. Writing down paper-tests is utterly worthless in geology anyway! I majored in geology just to dig in the dirt, dang it! Not to take short-essay tests! I swear, there is a flaw somewhere in the system.

That reminds me. I read something awesome on the Internet! Somebody's proposing to do away with the credit hour system in colleges and start doing classes based on HOW FAST YOU LEARN! Now *that's* a great concept. I took a class in Algebra when I was in a freshman in high school based on this principle, and it was the greatest thing that's ever happened to me in a math class. Except for when I was a sophomore, and I got to watch a movie with Donald Duck in it. You can't really beat *that*. But the learn-as-you-go method was the second best. Definitely.

My Roly Poly "comeback" seems now to be a hoax. I worked one day for two hours. I thought I would work for two hours everyday for the rest of the week (except Wednesday and Sunday), but I'm apparently only going to come in for a half-an-hour on Saturday. John F. Kennedy's remains are to blame for this one. I'm thinking I'll get stood up for Saturday as well, so I'm going to get this $14 paycheck coming to me and go head-on for the stock market with it.

Okay ... um ... Halloween's right around the corner. And I'm probably going to go as a discarded jumbo shrimp, unless I can find something better in the garbage disposal by tomorrow afternoon.

----October 26, 2003

Well slap me across the face and call me Leonard! I got my job at Roly Poly's back! Looks like I'm only working 10 hours a week, but that nevertheless sounds pretty darn tasty.

Yesterday, I went to a hayride with Chi Alpha (that Christian Group). It still felt like I didn't know people well enough to really get into the action, but it was a fun time nonetheless. For some stupid reason, I decided to play ultimate frisbee and now my back hurts like nobody's business. (Ohhh... I am not one to endure the physical activities, you know.) And, let's see, I FREAKING ACED THAT CALCULUS TEST! HAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAH! Life seems like it ought to be good at the moment, doesn't it?

Alright, my obsessive devotion to writing more and more and more reviews has seemed to have halted at the moment. Well ... it's going to continue to halt until I get these assignments done that I'm supposed to be doing. I'm still going to try to do stuff, but ... let's see ... I got a test on Tuesday that I ought to spend much of tomorrow studying for. I also have a speech to write for speech class. (I still must stress that speech class would be the good only if we didn't have to give speeches.) Yeah, well, I guess we can't have everything.

Incidentally, two of my favorite albums were uploaded today. Scary Monsters and The White Album. Oddly enough, these albums can be considered true "bookmarks" of my life. I probably shouldn't have, but I illustrated what the "bookmarks" are exactly. Ahhh! I'm a sentimental fool!

Oh man! This site loses all of its natural charm! The Madonna reviews have just been added! (I did that pumpkin thing today in Photoshop ... I was very proud of myself for figuring out how to crop! I was so proud, in fact, that instead of kissing Christina Aguilera, I had Madonna kissing a crop! ... Then again, is there really that much of a difference?)

Oh man! I've got to get some sleep! I haven't done too many reviews today. I finished those three I said I started last night. Right now, I'm listening to Kiss's live album Alive! ... and the rumors about it are true! This is a lot better than the studio albums ... even their "good songs" sound much better. Indeed, these guys seemed to be born for the stage. I'm relieved. As the first live album I'm going to review (and, at the moment, I don't plan on reviewing many live albums), I'm not going to do track reviews. I'm just going to write a few paragraphs, slap it an overall score and be done with it. Live albums, to me, aren't something I feel I ought to dwell on like I do studio albums.

Roxy Music: Roxy Music (1972)
Roxy Music: For Your Pleasure (1973)
Roxy Music: Stranded (1973)
Bob Dylan: Blonde on Blonde (1966)

--October 19, 2003

Hey! I finally uploaded all those blasted Roxy Music albums! Hooray! Today, I was dead-determined to write and finish five albums ... but I only actually only did one entire review! I finished The Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step, and I wrote the entire review of Bob Dylan's Blonde on Blonde, which I uploaded today. (That was a very long and very tough album to review, by the way.) However, to make up for my shortcomings, I, at the last minute, decided to write the introductions to Roxy Music's Country Life, David Bowie's Scary Monsters, and Madonna's Like a Prayer. This is a good thing because trying to figure out how to start my reviews are often the most difficult part! (I was actually in a rare mood when I felt particularly creative ... so I thought I had might as well write a bunch on intros to albums I had been preparing for.) So, tomorrow, I'll have a lot to work off of!

I've also had a weird idea how I could organize the artists on this site for sometime when I get it more developed. In my Low review, I believe, I said something about David Bowie being one of the "Grand Dukes" of rock-and-roll. I thought it would be an interesting idea if I made a photographic map of all the rock stars and groups and put them in a sort of Medieval manor and label their roles in the 'rock-and-roll society.' For example, The Beatles would be the kind rulers until they decided they didn't like doing it any more and split up. John Lennon became the serious author. Paul McCartney still remained prolific in society as a public-figure nobleman. George ... became somebody. And Ringo was the lovable lug who still remained in the palace and was respected by all. ... You know, I could do a whole dynasty! And the people like Madonna would be the bastard who used to live in a hut until she slit Donna Summer's throat and threatened everyone for attention. All sorts of fun, exciting stuff can arise from this! The rock-and-roll village. Oh yes.

Today, I actually cleaned my room up a little bit! You can see the floor now! (Cleaning my room was one of the things I had on my list of things to do this weekend, but probably would never do. Well, I did part of it.) I also watched "The Big Kahuna," which was pretty good. I also remembered why exactly I wanted to see that film. It wasn't because I heard it was great! It was because I heard once upon a time that it took place in my hometown Wichita Kansas! It even had some generic screenshots of our cursed city. However, I understand that Kevin Spacy and Danny DeVito didn't actually go to Wichita to film it. I, of course, understand completely why they didn't. Wichita sucks! (Kevin Spacey even made a few snide remarks toward Wichita in the movie, and I have to fully agree with him!) I could even pinpoint the exact building where they supposedly were (based on the film's closing shot) ... I catered in that building once when I was a delivery driver for Jason's Deli! (I didn't deliver any cheese logs, though!) Okay ... I also rented another film and watched it today. It's a Brit film called "Shooting Fish." Though, the real reason I rented it was because Kate Beckinsale (aka AYEAYEAYE!) was in it. It wasn't a bad film ... kind of stupid ... but it was charming.

I'm going to have to study for an upcoming geology exam sometime before Wednesday, as well. Maybe that'll be an activity for tomorrow! (Possibly!)

The Rolling Stones: Between the Buttons (1967)
The Rolling Stones: Flowers (1967)
Procol Harum: Home (1970)

-----October 18, 2003

Okay ... I didn't get as much done for this site as was ideal, but I did fine. I finished that stupid Spandau Ballet review (didn't post it yet, of course). I also did that Shins review. I plan on giving them their own page on my site this weekend. The Roxy Music, I'll hopefully have up tomorrow, and possibly I'll review Country Life before my holiday is over. Today, I also wrote that Flowers review ... which wasn't too hard.

I'm also going to review The Perfect Circle's Thirteenth Step tomorrow, probably, for my soon-to-be established "modern bands" page. It's not a good album ... but it's not bad, either. At least it isn't ugly. I'm bored through it, however. I've been listening to The Beatles's White Album all day today, and hopefully I'll get to that tasty monster tomorrow as well.

My parents are down in Branson, Missouri (aka Country Western HELL) at the moment, and so I have the house to myself. My fatha gave me $40 to spend ... which I kinda enjoy (I haven't really spent money so liberally for a while). I rented two films that I've been wanting to see, which was "One Hour Photo" and "The Big Kahuna." I watched "One Hour Photo" tonight, and it was every bit as excellent as I perceived it to be. Perhaps it was a little bit too rated R, but it was in good taste, at least. The film was both thought provoking, powerful, and original. Perhaps Robin Williams wasn't the best man for the role, but he did a fine job with it. I'll look forward to watching "The Big Kahuna" tomorrow.

Also today, I went over to the Wichita art gallery to pick up brochure for my brother, who I guess was supposed to get for his art class. He went to the art gallery last week, but forgot to pick up the brochure! (He's going to a college 100 miles away, so he can't come over and get it or anything.) Anyway, the admission for the gallery was free of charge that day, so I had a look around. They had a Charles Schultz gallery on exhibit ... I wasn't really looking forward to seeing the late Schultz's work, but going through a gallery of comics certainly isn't non-enertaining! I also glanced through the gallery's other paintings. They got some real crap there (respectfully)! It doesn't even come close to measuring up to the Chicago art museum I went to a few years ago ... but I suppose I got to remember what I'm comparing it too! They have some interesting paintings there, however. After that, I came back home for a while (when I started to review that Stones album) and then I went to Saturday night church. For some reason I thought it started at 6:33 when it really starts at 5:33, so I was an hour late. Oh well.

Genesis: The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway (1974)
Pat Benatar: Precious Time (1981)

-----October 17, 2003

ROIGHT! I could have uploaded more today, but I'm feeling rather lazy. I am actually quite proud that I finally got around to reviewing that insane (but good) Genesis album. FINALLLLLLLLLLY! That Pat Benatar album, I also reviewed today, but it didn't take me nearly as long.

Also really quick, I wrote the introduction to Spandau Ballet's True album after just one listen ... albeit, much of what I wrote down isn't very constructive. (Man ... The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway must have been a medicine ball or something.) Anyway, I'll probably write the track reviews in the morning, and spruce up the intro in the morning.

I'm also working on reviewing the first Shins album Oh, Inverted World. They are a modern band that have a GREAT sense of melody! Anyway, the reason I'm reviewing that album is so that I might have a better foothold to possibly review their follow-up album Chutes Too Narrow for the newspaper. Previously, I reviewed David Bowie's Reality and I thought that was kinda fun. (Rhapsody has this album a week before it's released on CD. They have it right now, but it's not coming out until next Tuesday, I think. So, that'll be cool.) And I had heard of the Shins when I downloaded some of their music off of Kazaa ... so, I knew they were good for a long time!

I'm on a much-appreciated four-day holiday, so I'll certainly spend much of this time reviewing albums. Yes ... hopefully I'll have time to upload these reviews that are just sitting on my harddrive. (And I have quite a few of 'em.) This weekend, I hope to get around to doing David Bowie's Scary Monsters (which I know by heart), The Beatles White Album, (which I also know by heart), The Rolling Stones' Flowers, and whatever Kiss album comes next (oh, save me). Yeap ... I find that reviewing bad albums between reviewing good albums saves me from being snobby on albums that I have no reason to be snobby over! (Although, that might be too late.) I'll hopefully get to do a "random" artist as well, and get that entire page rolling.

Yep. I had that calc test today. I don't think I did too badly on it ... at least I wasn't getting any insane answers or anything like that. That rate problem he gave us was HARD! And we didn't get enough time to complete it! (And I've taken the freaking class before!!!!) Oh well. I had the rest of the day off, fortunately, because my geology class is on a field trip. (I couldn't go because of this blasted test ... although I can't say I was too thrilled about going in such cold weather, anyway. Yikes! And they're in Colorado, too! Yeouch!)

-----October 14, 2003

Well, it was a little over two weeks ago (on Sept. 28) when I was going on a nice'n'proper music reviewing blitz when I noticed that Yahoo! was having a great deal on their web services. (They completely waived a $15 sign up fee.) And so the birth of donignacio.com was officially born the day after! Hooray! It works even nicer than in acutal human births!

Of course, during this time, I didn't want to update this diary at all, if that means I could be using the time to transfer all the files from my old geocities site to this one. (And ... yes ... I had to change the links. While I was doing that, I thought: "Why not just change the whole format!") I wasn't transferring the files over constantly, either. I spent a lot of time during this two weeks trying to crank out more reviews. (Fortunately, my efforts seem to have been successful!)

Now, there are 83 music reviews on the site, and I'll hit the 100 mark in no time! I've got a calc test on Friday, but seemingly for the first time in my life, I feel COMFORTABLE about it! (Yes! That's the awesomeness of retaking calculus I, I guess!) I have a few album reviews standing by. I've got a review of Procol Harum's Home, The Stones' Between the Buttons, and the first three Roxy music albums just standing by. At the moment, I'm working on a review of Bleu's Redhead, an album on Music Rhapsody, which I chose to review at random. It'll go along with Plone's For Beginner Piano, which I also chose to review at random a few weeks ago, on my tentative: "RANDOM REVIEWS PAGE!" These random reviews are turning out to be a fairly good idea, because I feel like I have more to say about it! For example, when I review a Stones album ... what could I possibly say about it that hasn't already been said? Sure, I come up with something, but ... with these mostly-unknown albums, I have to try to explain it to people and really try to make a good judgement about whether I recommend it or not. Yeah ... pretty soon, people aren't going to buy CD's at the store anymore. It's all going online. However, I hope to generate at least a little bit of interest with my reviews. (And, I can't forget the reason why I got into music reviewing in the first place: Self education!)

True story: Yesterday (Wednesday), I was SOOOOO eager to churn off these reviews like nobody's business, but after reviewing Kiss's Hotter Than Hell, I was literally DRAINED! Fortunately, such feelings didn't last. I finished the review of the Kinks' Something Else By the Kinks that night, and I did Blondie's Parallel Lines just now. (I'll load it along with the two other Blondie albums I reviewed pretty soon.) Currently, I am itching to write the Rolling Stones's Out of Our Heads (I've listened to it enough, at least.) And I am getting prepared to write Procol Harum's Home. The unfortunate thing about my Procol Harum reviewing endeavors is that I am missing the next Procol album in the discography: Broken Barricades. So, there'll be a glaring hole in my reviews until I get it! (Or at least until Rhapsody starts putting up some Procol Harum albums on their system!) I'll also probably get around to doing ABBA's swansong The Visitors (which'll make ABBA the first band whose studio-output discography I've completed). And, I will probably get to David Bowie's "Heroes" fairly soon.

I really feel like I'm on fire with this website now! There is currently 61 reviews on here and I'm just PUMPED UP to complete some more. This setting is so much better than it was on Epinions.com. On that site, I was so worried about the community setting, that I wasted too much time glancing through other people's reviews and giving them ratings so that they would in turn rate my review. I also don't have to worry about their Nazi-esque guidelines to writing a proper review. Baron Jackson (epinions-member exterminator) might have gotten some satisfaction out of blowing me off, but he's really been a blessing in disguise. (Heaven knows, this guy is still a bastard.)

I've been considering reviewing a complete oddball every once in a while and putting it on a page with a bunch of other oddballs. Music Rhapsody has an occasional artist who either made one album or only one of their albums were uploaded. It'll certainly give me a place to post that Cerrone review I did a long time ago. I also want to do a review of The Buggles' The Age of Plastic one of these days. (That's a GOOD album, too.) I'll probably do that sometime before the end of the year, I think. Meanwhile, I'll be working hard at trying to complete some of these discographies. Many of these artists, I'm not even close! (And I have a LONG LONG way to go with Kiss...)

In my personal life, one of the major things that happened to me was that I was *gulp* overdrawn at the bank by six dollars! Eek! And do you know how much they penalized me? 50 bucks! BLOOODSUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm switching banks ASAP! I thought I was being careful, too. When I bought that Bowie ticket, it was for $75. I had $82 in the bank, so I thought it was okay. Lo and behold the $10 from Music Rhapsody wasn't showing on Commerce Bank's computer system when I check it (it was a full 2 days after they charged me), so I thought it was okay. But it wasn't! Commerce must have forgotten to update their ATM system that day, or something! (MAJOR JERKS! THAT'S WHAT THEY ARE!) Anyway, I really am going to switch banks. But this was merely the catalyst. I'm also not too thrilled about having to fill out my own deposit slip (where I am apparently required to memorize my bank account number or carry that number around with me in my wallet) and they also lied to me when I opened the account. They told me that they were the only bank with an ATM machine on campus at K-State. NOT! There were about five ATM machines ... one of which was a bank that I would rather have established a checking account with: Capitol Federal Savings. Anyway, I'm not sure when that's going to happen. I'm also not sure if I need mula to open one with. I'll probably have two checking accounts open at once (just so I can switch my Rhapsody and Netflix services over) and then cancel the Commerce one.

That is all!

I got a lot added today, even though two of these reviews were already written beforehand! I'm glad I finally got some Rolling Stones action going. I'm thinking I'll probably reevaluate my assessment of England's Newest Hitmakers and 12 X 5 at a later date. I was pondering over the situation and I questioned whether or not these albums' lower scores were accurate. For now, I'll leave it as it stands. And, I do know that The Rolling Stones, Now! deserves a significantly higher score.

I reviewed A Salty Dog by Procol Harum today, in spite of the fact that it was STOLEN BY SOME LOSER! I have a copy of it on my computer, thank goodness!

Well ... my retreat went pretty well. It wasn't a waste of my time, at least. Although, I don't feel that it was a great VALUE, either. Even though, I imagine I learned something from it, and increased my faith that much. So I guess it was valuable!

I got my BLOODY CALC I TEST back today and I got a 65 percent on it. I can't BELIEVE he gave me a zero on a proof problem where I proved it to where I knew how! ARGH! I proved the stupid crap ... what more can you expect? Oh well. At least it's passing. I'm a little bit insecure now because I got an 88 on my first calc test before. And to start out with a 65 ... wow! That's all I have to say. (JERK!)

I will hopefully get to Sgt. Pepper, Something Else By the Kinks, and Elton John's Honky Chateau pretty soon. Hopefully. As long as I don't have a STUPID CRAP weekend. I know I've got to spend the rest of today working on a symposium speech based on a book I haven't read. Oh bloody hell. I knew I would work on this site more the busier I got.

I really ought to find more time to update this site! (Aargh! It's ironic that when I have time for it, I don't want to work on it ... and when I *don't* have time for it, I want to work on it. Blahhh!)

Well. Ya know that calculus test I had? I got a 46 percent on it! Considering that I had forgotten most of Calc I, my professor (the one who looks like Dustin Hoffman) let me demote myself back to Calc I. Unfortunately, I defected back to a class that is beyond its fire marshall capacity, so I can't be officially enrolled in the class until somebody drops. Hopefully, somebody will.

We had another test in that Calc I class ... and I missed most of the lessons. In fact, yesterday, we had a review session that I missed because I was five minutes late. Ehh ... it's a long story. I was able to answer all of those questions but two. However, I might lose points in other places because I just wasn't sure HOW I was supposed to answer the questions. I'm sure he drilled the other students in how to do them. Me? I missed it. And I even have the wrong calculus book! Oh well. As long as I don't get a low C in that class again the second time around, I'm happy.

Oh ... we had a little bit of an ordeal last weekend. Some loser smashed two windows open of my car and *tried* to steal the stereo. And when I say *tried*, that means he didn't succeed. He just smashed open the winders and left two screwdrivers. It's his way of saying "I screwed you!" He did, however, go to my dad's car (which wasn't locked, incidentally) and took a few of my mix tapes and my Procol Harum A Salty Dog CD. Grrrr... It could have been worse, though. And I do have an MP3 copy of it, thank goodness.

Lastly, in my rambling-off of all the uninteresting occurrences of the past eleven days, I bought David Bowie's brand-spanking new album! It's called Reality. (As in something that's "real" and not in "a bunch of old cows trying to get people to sell their houses.") And I absolutely love it! He is on an artistic comeback! Like Heathen, it rivals everything he's done in the 70's! See ... if you're going to fall into fandom with an old codger, it had might as well be one that's doing great stuff right now. And I got into him before Heathen came out. How cool is that?

Also, David Bowie FINALLY announced the North American leg of his tour and ... whattayaknow! ... there is a perfect one for me to go to! (Well ... relatively perfect.) Jan. 13th in Chicago. It will only take me a day to get there, it's before school starts again, and it's in a great city! I e-mailed my friend Nathan yesterday, who lives in Texas now with all the long-horned cattle, to see if he would like to go. But I don't think he's going to bite. The tickets actually go on sale tomorrow, which is kind of disappointing because I'll be on a retreat with my Christian group tomorrow. But I'm not too worried about them selling out. I'll probably buy the cheapest ticket I can. I'm not a rich man. *Iddledittydoodyiddybittydittydum* But I am willing to fork over whatever it takes to see that dude before he kicks the bucket. (It might be sooner than we think, unfortunately. He never stopped smoking.)

Okay. I really got to get going on this retreat thing. (I'm going on a retreat when I've got a million things to do. It won't really be a retreat, then, would it????)

I will probably do the next Foreigner album next and I'll possibly get to the Rolling Stones next week. (STOOOOOOOOOOOONES!)

September 08, 2003

I actually did quite a lot for the spirit of this site over the weekend. This is probably because I have a calculus exam looming over my head that I will have to be prepared for exactly two days from now. Oh Holy Crap. So I will have to start studying ............ tomorrow!

Yesterday evening, I rewatched a film called "Office Space." In this film, there's a character called Michael Bolton whose entire existence was ruined once the popster of the same name (who, like most decent people on this planet, hate) became famous. I felt sorry for him, so I thought I would do a little Michael Bolton slamming myself! Of course... I didn't upload that review yet. *Grumbles* I'll upload it after I review his second album that's available on Music Rhapsody. (That's my special policy, I guess.) I also did the second Blondie album, which also isn't uploaded yet. *Grumbles* But I did finish that Foreigner review I said I would in that journal entry I wrote below this. And I did upload it on the site! Hooray! I'm also nearing my first 50 music reviews ... at the moment, there's 49. Well, I'm preparing myself to write the next Genesis review (which I will probably get to on Friday or Thursday night because of that STUPID test for that STUPID class) GRRRRR! But, perhaps that's the only reason I'm doing this web site now. Because I deem it the much more important than this school crap. That's it.

Good night!

The Kinks: Face to Face (1966)
ABBA: Super Trouper (1980)

Hah! I did write that Kinks review! And, it wasn't even a month later! For some odd reason, I got up at 4 o'clock this morning, so I decided to spent this extra time before school to write a KINKS review! I also wrote half an ABBA review ... and I finished it tonight (instead of doing my calculus homework)! That's the way us humans are intended to write reviews, anyway.

Well ... it has officially been over two weeks since school started. While it's not as sucky as I thought it would be those two weeks ago, it's still crap. Like I said, I have calculus homework that I need to attend to!

Today, I also archived the previous journal entry sets.

Alright ... since I'm not buying CD's anymore, I'll probably have some extra funds from my newspaper job to pay for a Web Site, once the pay-cycle catches up with me. However, I have not been QUITE as active with this site as I thought I would be when I started up with it, so I'm basically going to wait until I fill up the space I'm allotted on Geocities before making that jump to my own domain. I'll have 300 reviews by then ... which I deem plenty to apply for solo status!

Tomorrow's Friday, and I plan to review the next Foreigner album tomorrow. (I don't know why I'm reviewing Foreigner ... perhaps I'm trying to get some of the mediocre bands out of the way.)

Well. I gots to attend to that calculus! Good bye!
